McArthurGlen, European leader in the development and management of designer outlets, announced the implementation of a luxury centre in the city of Malaga. This will be the first commercial project of these characteristics developed in southern Spain, and its opening is scheduled for the end of 2018.

With an investment of 115 million euros, the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Malaga will host over 170 national and international brands that will offer discounts ranging from 30% to 70%.

The project will be developed in a space of 30,000 square meters and will be undertaken in two phases. In the first stage, 17,750 square meters –enough space for about 100 stores- will be built.

In addition, the site will have 1,500 parking spaces (situated both underground and above ground). According to the company, the centre could receive, during the first years, two million visitors a year.

A new factor that positions Malaga as an attractive city for investment

The centre will be located in an area adjacent to the Plaza Mayor shopping centre and, according to the mayor of the town, Francisco de la Torre, its opening is yet another factor that positions Malaga “as a very attractive city for investment” .

Likewise, the centre’s development manager, José Luis Arenas, said that its implementation will mean “an important advancement for the region, employment-wise, as well as a unique offer for three million local consumers and ten million tourists who visit the Malaga region each year.”

The opening of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Malaga will come with multiple benefits for the city at a social, economic and tourist level. In fact, the promoters have calculated that 1,000 jobs will be generated once the complex is fully developed.

Located just a few minutes away from the Pablo Picasso airport; twenty minutes from the María Zambrano train station and the city centre, and next to the MA-20 and MA-21 motorways, the centre’s position is both strategic and highly privileged.
