A few years ago, Malaga had a clear objective: to be consolidated as a technological, intelligent and innovative city. Even if we are still working in, and there is a lot of things to do, nowadays we are very proud of all work made and we can say we are success!
The main points:
- Andalusian Technological Park (PTA). The 63% of companies based here are dedicated to electronic, telecommunications and software development areas. The billing of all enterprises together is almost 2.000 million euros per year, the 40% comes from foreign companies. During last years an important amount of international companies are coming to PTA. “We have a consolidated brand and we are setting up an increasingly international environment, which allows us to compete with other reference locations in Europe” explain the park rectors.
- Malaga Digital Content Hub (Polo Nacional de Contenidos Digitales). 12.000 square metres distributed over coworking spaces, laboratories, and all necessary for develop digital content projects.
Approximately 125 local and international companies are working here with more than 1.500 directly or indirectly jobs. One of its objectives is to help to technological companies to be part of international market, providing all tool and support needed to make it a reality with the greatest success guarantees. They offer the best opportunity of making known their projects in front of potential investors.
Malaga Digital Content Hub has as one of their priorities the promotion of online games development companies in our city. Development of online games has more than 700 millions of euros of turnover in 2017 in Spain, and Malaga is moving to be one of the main location of this kind of companies in Spain.
- Many companies of technological sector are in the city center of Malaga, an area of high visibility and desirable for its employees as a work area. Brands as Freepik, BeSoccer, Uptodown or Ebury are already installed in the city center and its surroundings. Consulting companies explain that Malaga has positioned itself as a “office destination” in Europe, that is why the interest of investors and foreign companies to coming to Malaga is unstoppable.
Apart from these main points along the city, also annual events as Greencities, the New Tech Observatory, 5G Forum, 4K Summit or the Blockchain Conference, have helped to get this consolidated position of Malaga in innovation and new technologies.
