The International Association of Hydrogeologists, IAH, and the Center of Hydrogeology of the University of Malaga, CEHIUMA, are honored to celebrate and host the 46th IAH Congress in Malaga between 22nd and 27th September.
The event will be held at Trade Fairs and Congress Center of Malaga (FYCMA), the functional and modern design of the building converts it into a business center of national reference, in which, 1.300 events have taken place throughout its time to activity.
Congress theme and topics
Water scarcity is one of the most discussed issues for all governments and associations around the world, in fact, the congress is a contribution to the 8th phase of UNESCO International Hydrological Program. Recent studies on groundwater sustainability show that the largest aquifers in the world are undergoing, to adapt for such critical situation and to cope with their consequences, appropriate management and governance of water resources are needed.
In order to cover all important subjects during the full congress, the main topics will be groundwater assessment and management, groundwater and climate change; tools, methods and models to study groundwater and karst hydrogeology, between others. International subject matter experts will discuss about that to find the best solutions.
Malaga and its surroundings are full of water, we have more than sea. Lakes, swamps and rivers surround the city. That is why, apart from the congress, there will be many field trips such as Guadalhorce river basin, sierra de Mijas or Axarquia region. As the congress has a duration of 6 days, international participants will have the possibility to visit he city, a great opportunity to discover our famous good weather, the beautiful streets along the city center, as well as they will discover a modern city where international companies are based obtaining great benefits thanks to their arrival to Malaga.
