The British company McArthurGlen Group, leading designer outlet organization in Europe with 25 centers across 10 countries decided in 2017 to come to Malaga. After two years working in collaboration with Sonae Sierra, international company dedicated to serving the needs of retail state investors, the first phase of the project is almost ready.
The location of the new outlet is adjacent to the Plaza Mayor Shopping Centre, the most popular shopping center of the city receiving over 10 million shoppers per year. This location is appropriate to attract people from many places: the international airport is very near to the shopping center, just three minutes by train, the city center is also connected by train and by broad you can get the outlet in less than 10 minutes. Also, Torremolinos is a few minutes driving or by train.
The center will feature McArthurGlen’s signature open-air village style, designed to reflect the local Andalusian architecture. It will have landscape walkways, dancing fountains, a central luxury square and a children’s playground facilities.
The 140-euro millions of investments along 30.000sq of retail space will be home to a mix of over 170 brands, including some of the most sought-after luxury and designer brands, alongside other international and local brands, all offering great prices with discounts up to 70%. The first phase comprises 17.500sq with 100 new stores. Second phase will be finish during 2022.
This first part expects to open by the end of October creating almost 600 new employments. Recruitment process have been started. Sales consultant, store managers and guest service advisor are the most demanded jobs by the company. Once the second phase starts, a total of 1.000 new employments will have been created.
This initiative highlights once again that Malaga is positioned as an attractive city for international investments. The shopping center brings to the city substantial advantages as well as for its surroundings.
